Job overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. As our Accountant, you will play a key role in contributing to and maintaining the healthy financial stability of our organisation, also forming part of the decision -making processes team within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with local legislation. 
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support strategic decision-making and planning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to provide financial insights and support business objectives.
  • Assist with external audits and tax filings by providing accurate and timely financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial systems to safeguard company assets and minimise risks.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations, standards, and best practices, and ensure compliance with new requirements as necessary.

Desired qualifications and attributes

  • ACCA or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience working as an Accountant or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ideally xero. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain organised and up-to-date financial records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues and improving processes.
  • High level of integrity and ethics, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in handling financial information.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and changes in the regulatory environment.
